Even as the landscape is changing from greens to brown the sky is blue this morning, thanks to the firefighters who are doing a great job of battling the Firestone Flats fire which is near us.  High five to them!

So I thought I would share what has just come off my bench in the green to brown category.  As you probably know, I love stones, especially ones that seem to glow with an inner light.  Tourmaline is one of those stones.  Pinks and greens are the most popular, but the browns are also exquisite.

The inspiration for these two pieces came from a combination of a piece I created in a class I taught about four years ago.  I was showing techniques and created a pendent as a demonstration.  I never really received any interest in the pendant, but spoke to me it.  So I decided I would keep it .  After I started wearing it I started getting lots of compliments on it, guess it looks better on than in a display.

The other part of the inspiration was two strands of tourmaline beads I had in the drawer.  I have been admiring them in my stash for a couple of years, not knowing what I wanted to do with them.  I pulled them out a few days ago and they were laying on my bench when the idea finally hit me to combine the two.  So I went digging through my drawers (yes drawers) of stones to find a couple tourmaline cabochons I was sure were in there.  And what you see above is the result.
