Inspiration comes in so many forms. For me water has always been a place of meditation and renewal. Growing up I loved going to the ocean, just sitting there on the rocks or walking along the shoreline listening to the surf and watching the waves.
Rivers, lakes, streams and creeks do the same for me. The sound of moving water, the light reflecting off the water for me is a great inspiration for my work.
Texture is very important in my work and the textures of water influence how I use texture on metal. In fact I am currently creating a collection around the different water inspired textures that I use in my work. I have been doing lots of chicken scratches on paper.
I am really excited with the drawings I have done so far. Okay they may not look like much on paper but they translate into interesting pieces in my head. I will be working on these for the next few weeks to finish off the samples and will be posting them here on my website… so watch for them.
