I have been involved with the Eagle Cap Extreme Sled Dog Race for a number of years. Last year was the 10th anniversary and I did a special pendant for the race. Again this year I have a pendant available as a fund raiser for the race. It can be purchased at the race.
Dogs have been a part of my life since I was very young. For the past 15 years I have shared my life with a number of Siberian Huskies, and many of those ran on my team. We still have six Siberians living with us, all but one who is retired off of my team. They are the reason that the Cherished Paws Collection exists and the reason I am still involved in the sport of sled dog racing even though I no longer run a team.
The ECX pendant with the dog in the logo on the front and a paw print on the back is infused with the love and respect I have for these amazing athletes. If you have never seen a dog team getting ready to go, or the start of a race, you should put that on your bucket list. It is a site to behold. The energy level is catching and you can’t help but smile at the enthusiasm that fills the air as the teams get ready to do what they love – see what is around the next bend.
So again this year, I will be out on the trail as the Race Marshal at the ECX race working with the wonderful volunteers, the amazing race vets, the mushers and the stars of the whole event – the sled dogs.
