The turquoise and amethyst stones have been sitting on my bench for quite awhile. Since I first saw them I had an idea of what I wanted to do with them but I just couldn’t see how to get to a final piece as it was more of an impression I had of how the pieces should be designed. And as often happens, when the details of the design finally came, it came for both stones, so I was working on both of them at the same time.
As soon as I saw the amethyst stone, the movement of the cut reminded me of the flow of a dancer. So I knew that the piece would be a moon dancer with a diamond accent. And the turquoise stone reminded me of ancient goddess carvings. Maybe it is the fact that I was born in late June and am a Cancer by sign that I have always loved the moon and the water, but the turquoise had to be a moon goddess.
Well here are the final pieces. You may have seen the goddess pendant is my Facebook posts, but here is the first time the amethyst is getting any press.
