Here are two stones that I have been admiring on my bench for a couple of months now. Both of these stones were given to me by an awesome friend who wanted to share a couple of her late husband’s stones.  He was a metal smith and she still has quite a collection of interesting stones. While I was visiting her earlier this year she put out several display boxes and I just sat there for hours admiring them… yes, one could say I am easily amused… want to distract Dona for awhile, just put some stones in front of her… Because these are older stones, the turquoise is not like much of the turquoise you see today, it is a nugget that was cut to make it flat on the back and then polished.  It reminds me of an ancient or tribal goddess stone. The amethyst is a beautifully carved stone.  I don’t remember the name of the artist who carved it, so will have to ask.  The stone reminds me of a dancer twirling and I am thinking this one is going to be all for me and be called “Moon Dancer”.  I have never made a piece that was specifically for me, generally I keep the prototypes or pieces I make while teaching a class.  But this stone is calling my name… I have several ideas on how to set these two, but you are going to have to wait and see the final pendants…
