STUDIO CLASSES
I am currently scheduling one on one and small group classes in my studio in Joseph, OR and Missoula, MT.

If you have a special class request or want to schedule a private or small group class contact me. A class list of many of the standard classes I teach can be found here to give you ideas.
For more advanced classes, these are often taught one on one in my studio in Joseph, OR or in Sue’s studio in Missoula, MT. So if there is a specific technique you want learn, or specific project you want help on, let me know and we can get that scheduled too.
You Create Sessions
If you have a specific project you would like to create, a wedding band, earrings with the beautiful stones you found at a gem show… We can do that too. These are generally scheduled as private sessions where I help you through the project, learning the skills specific to your project. Contact me at info @ donamiller.com.

Basic Silver Smithing, May 2nd
Learn the basics of silver smithing to make jewelry. Learn about the properties of metal, texturing, cutting, shaping, filing, riveting, finishing and polishing your work. You will have all the basics you need to build on for soldering and other more advanced techniques.

Intro to Soldering, June 2nd
Learn the basics of soldering to demystify and simplify the soldering process. Learn how the soldering process works and how it applies to sweat soldering, butt soldering and pick soldering. We will cover tips and tricks and common problems, as well as how to troubleshoot problems when they arise. Learning this set of skills will open a new world of opportunities for your jewelry making. Go home with a new pendant or earrings to wear.

Tab Set Silver Pendant, July 17th
Learn how to create a tab set pendant with an attached bail. This is a great setting for found objects as well as unusual stones. We will be working through how to size the pendant and the tabs to the stone. And I will share my tricks to make this type of setting easier.

Basket Set Pendant, July 21st
Basket settings are a fun, easy way to learn to do a prong style setting. These can be used for cabachons as well as found objects. Learn how to size the basket and the prongs, how to finnish the prongs so it is a clean looking settting, and how to set the stone.

Simple Prong Settings – June 30th – July 1st
In this class we will be looking at setting flat back stones and found objects. We will focus on the design of the piece, creating the prongs, sooldering the prongs, shaping the prongs, setting the object, finishing and polishing the piece. Come have fun while creating a couple wonderful pieces of jewelry.
